Our business - what we do

Snowfall prints soft-cover, perfect bound books with full-color covers and black and white interiors. That’s the short story…but read on. We are not your average book printing company.

At its core, Snowfall Press is a technology company that combines a proprietary software operating system with best-of-breed printing and finishing hardware to provide a next generation integrated print solution. Snowfall Press automates and streamlines each step of the book-making process to produce high-quality, low-cost books at incredible speed.

Snowfall’s technology gives writers and publishers the ability to print the exact number of books they need – eliminating the need for inventory and the associated carrying costs. We also ship direct, removing the hassle of shipping.

Our name: why Snowfall?

Anyone who has curled up by a warm fireplace on a cold winter night and watched snow falling, particularly a first snow of the year, understands that a snowfall changes everything. Softly falling snow takes the old landscape and makes it new, fresh, inviting. And it does it in a quiet, measured way.

Unlike a harsh blizzard commanding attention, Snowfall Press is a quiet storm – gently changing the landscape of book printing worldwide…making the printing of books new, fresh, and inviting for authors and publishers.

Our differentiation – what sets us apart

With Snowfall, it is the combination of differences that make us a compelling print partner for authors and publishers. Our key differentiators are:

No set up charges
Whether you are a large publisher or a small, first time author, there are no charges to you to set up an account and upload your files.

You keep 100% of your royalties
We print your book for a very low price. You set the price of your book. When you sell a book, the difference between what you sell the book for and what we charge is all yours.  Retail price of book: $15.00. Cost to print book: $4.00. $15.00 -$4.00 = $11.00 (this is what you keep). As we have said, our goal is to drive more gross margin dollars for you.

No charges for changing your mind
Some printers will not charge you a set up fee but will charge you every time you make a change to your files. With Snowfall there are no change fees – no matter how many times you change your files…now imagine how you might customize your book if you knew there were no change fees.

No minimum order – print one, or thousands
When Snowfall says there is no minimum order, we mean just that. If you order only one book, only one is printed and sent to you. We can do this because of our state-of-the-art print and finishing capabilities.

Low cost per book
A 6x9”, 100 page, perfect bound, full-color cover book costs only $2.25…and as we mentioned, you can order just one if you want…or thousands.

Broad range of print sizes
Some printers force you into pre-set templates. Your book must be this size…or that. With Snowfall, any size book you can spec from 4x6” to 8.5x11” is printable. We don’t charge extra for odd sizes.

Broad range for shipping options
We give our customers one of the broadest ranges of shipping options possible – from direct to end-users, to full distribution, to retail outlets and Amazon.com.

Fastest time-to-market
Turnaround times measured in a few days and not in weeks.

Once you upload your PDF file, your book is ready to print. Typical turnaround times are two or three days, but many of our customers have had their books printed the same day. And though it is possible to go from book printed to book shipped in one day, we strongly encourage you  to plan ahead and print one book first as a proof -  to make sure it is exactly what you want…then you can quickly print the remaining number you desire.

You have online control of your printing
Whether in your office or traveling in seat 22C at 33,000 feet, if you have a WiFi connection you will be able to print books when you want. Our philosophy is to help you when you need help and to get out of your way when you don’t need us. So when you want to print your books, you don’t need to get in touch with your customer rep…just go on line, choose how many books you want, and click print. In a short while, the books will be printed and shipped to their destination.

Stellar gray tones
Do you need beautiful photos and illustrations? We often hear, “My current printer does not do photos well…how are your photos?” We also hear from our customers, “Your photos and illustrations are fantastic.” You be the judge. Our photos and illustrations are excellent.

Full bleed
Whether on the cover or the inside text, we can accommodate your full-bleed designs.

Printing across the gutter
Yes. That is what we said…across the gutter. You need graphs to meet – we do that too…with no white gap.

Automatic printing from your shopping cart

Composition on the fly
Would you like to let your customers compose their own books? Perhaps you have a set of instructions, lessons, Bible studies, or chapter topics that can stand alone. With Snowfall Press, you can let your customers choose what individual Bible studies, topical chapters, or lessons they want and compile it in a book made just for them. Interested? Our Vision: A networked world of print facilities

Imagine wanting to print 100 books and knowing in advance that 100 are going to the west coast, 200 to the east coast, 100 to the UK and 100 to Singapore. Now imagine uploading your PDF of the book and the Snowfall server automatically distributes the printing to facilities in those areas and they all print simultaneously – no major shipping charges, no customs charges, no shipments being held in customs. And it was done automatically.

Or imagine a writer in Argentina. He wants to break into the Hispanic markets in the U.S. and UK but the cost of printing in country and shipping to these destinations always priced his books out of the market. By targeting markets from his website and printing and shipping at Snowfall Press facilities worldwide, this author can now open markets that were previously unattainable.

A dream…maybe…but it is the vision Snowfall is building.

Corporations need quick, affordable, high quality books as well. Seminar workbooks, corporate manuals, annual and semi-annual reports, advanced reader copies, and marketing copies of new books are all products Snowfall can deliver.
