How to make a PDF of your document: from Microsoft Word

While it is possible to make a PDF for both your cover and body text within Microsoft Word, this application is not equipped to make a PDF/X-1a – the best type of PDF for printing…particularly for printing the cover art. That said, if you do not have access to a professional design application that offers the PDF/X1-a option, and your cover design is very simple, the follow information will help you make a PDF from within Microsoft Word.

Once you have written and formatted your Microsoft manuscript, click on this

top left of your screen. In the drop down menu click on “save as.” You will get another drop down menu. One of those line items is “PDF.” Click on that and then click “save.” Your Word document will be made into a PDF.
